AMTIL (Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited) and Inside 3D Printing hosted an impressive exhibition hall and two-day conference entirely focused on additive manufacturing. The two-day conference took place May 26-27 with the exhibit hall remaining open from May 26 until May 29. Session topics explored new opportunities and challenges for industrial and consumer 3D printing efforts, as well as the best strategies for a range of industries including product development, medicine, automotive, technology, software, and more.
The conference, was programmed by Bernard Meade, University of Melbourne and Professor Ian Gibson, School of Engineering, Deakin University, takes place at the Melbourne Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Kunal Varma is the Global Sales Manager for EFESTO LLC and his presentation addressed the rapidly increasing adoption of large scale metal 3D printing in several industry verticals. Representative examples of free form fabrication, hybrid manufacturing, multi-alloy applications, and repair/MRO applications were described. High level comparisons has been made between the primary metal 3D printing technologies and their application niches.
His session left a lasting impression on many of the forward thinking minds.
The Inside 3D Printing-Melbourne Conference attracted a highly qualified crowd of academics, industrial leaders and entrepreneurs with a large range of additive manufacturing experience. Just a few weeks after the show, the Australian government announced a $250 million investment into the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Center (IMCRC) catapulting 3D printing to the forefront of Australia’s manufacturing and academic sectors.
Australia’s eagerness to fill their manufacturing vacuum with this cutting edge technology was undeniable. EFESTO has now strategically aligned itself with key players in the Australian additive manufacturing market in order to become one of the key first movers for 3D metal printing. The company offers systems and services, with a particular focus on Directed Energy Deposition/Powder Fed Laser Metal Deposition. EFESTO builded in the last years strong sales channels and high-level customer relationships to offer the best metal 3D printing technologies and applications, including the capability to develop high-end service bureaus around the globe.
